Historia
Cómo surgió
Built in the late 15th century as a bedesten — a secure, lockable hall where merchants traded and stored their most valuable cloth and goods, the commercial nucleus of Ottoman Thessaloniki. Its six lead-covered domes and thick brick-and-stone walls have survived almost intact through fires and the centuries, and it has never stopped being a marketplace.
