Historia
Cómo surgió
Built in 1922 to a design by the architect Eli Modiano, on the site of a Jewish school lost in the 1917 fire, the covered market was Thessaloniki's central food hall for generations. After decades of decline it was painstakingly restored and reopened in 2022, keeping its iron-and-glass roof while filling the aisles with modern eateries.

A historic 1922 covered food market in the heart of Thessaloniki, restored and reopened in 2022 as a gourmet food hall. It is now one of the best places in the city to eat and drink your way through Greek mezedes, cheeses and seafood under one roof.
Yes — the market is free to wander. You only pay for whatever you eat, drink or buy from the individual stalls and tavernas inside.
