Vrachos

A seafood taverna perched on the rocks — vrachos means 'rock' — on the Kalamaria seafront, where a pergola-shaded terrace looks straight out over the Thermaic Gulf. The kitchen keeps to the things a seaside psarotaverna does well: whole fish off the grill, grilled crayfish and shellfish, and cold meze, with ouzo and tsipouro to match. It's a drive or bus ride south of the centre, and the sea-facing tables are the ones to book.
