Gialos Fish & Seafood Tavern

A big, buzzing fish tavern out on the Kalamaria seafront, set by the little harbour at Mikro Emvolo where the Thermaic Gulf opens up. It draws crowds for the simple things done well: whole fish off the grill, mussels and shellfish, fried small fish and cold meze, with ouzo and tsipouro to match. It's a short drive or bus ride south of the centre, and the sea-facing tables are the ones to book.
