Valaoritou — the engine
A grid of old commercial buildings that fills nightly, Valaoritou is where the city bar-hops. La Doze is the anchor — often called the best cocktail bar outside Athens. Start here and follow the crowd. A few doors on, To Pikap doubles as a vinyl bar, record shop and gallery, running from morning coffee to late-night drinks. Both are dressier and pricier than the street bars — worth it once. For a non-hotel option, Urania opens a summer roof garden atop a neoclassical building right in the Valaoritou bar district.
