Πώς δημιουργήθηκε
Sculpted by Evangelos Moustakas, erected in 1973 and inaugurated on the waterfront on 30 August 1974 (Saint Alexander's name day), the statue honours the Macedonian king after whom the wider region and countless local institutions are named. The accompanying spears and shields evoke the Macedonian phalanx that carried Alexander's empire to the edge of the known world.

On the seafront promenade at the foot of Leoforos Megalou Alexandrou, about a 15-minute walk southeast of the White Tower toward the New Waterfront.
The bronze of Alexander on Bucephalus stands around six metres tall and rises much higher on its marble plinth, making it one of the largest equestrian statues in Greece. It was sculpted by Evangelos Moustakas and unveiled in 1974 (erected the year before, in 1973).
